Canada Suspends Randomized COVID-19 Arrival Testing & Vaccine Mandate for Domestic and Outbound International Travel

  • In an effort to reduce congestion at major ports of entry, the Canadian government has suspended COVID-19 randomized arrival testing until July 1, 2022. Individuals arriving in Canada will no longer be chosen at random to submit to a COVID-19 molecular test.

  • Effective June 20, 2022, COVID-19 vaccine mandates for domestic travel on planes and trains, as well as outgoing international travel, will be suspended. Airlines and federal transport carriers will no longer require travelers to show proof of vaccination to board planes and trains.

Notably, foreign nationals entering Canada are still required to show proof of vaccination status. All travelers including Canadian citizens and permanent residents will continue to be required to submit arrival information through ArriveCan prior to entry.
