U.S. Announces End to COVID Vaccine Requirement for Air and Land Border Travel

The White House and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced that they will end the COVID-19 vaccination requirement for international air travelers and land border travelers entering from Canada and Mexico. Starting May 12, 2023, international air travelers and land border travelers seeking entry into the U.S. will no longer need to show proof of COVID vaccination.

Since 2021, the U.S. has required travelers seeking entry into the U.S. to show proof of COVID vaccination. The termination of the COVID vaccination requirement aligns with the end of the national COVID public health emergency that has been in place for the last three years.

What this Means for Our Clients

Starting May 12, 2023, all individuals seeking entry into the U.S. will no longer need to show proof of COVID vaccination to board their flight or to enter through a land border.

Please note that the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and Department of State (DOS) will continue to require proof of COVID vaccination, or a valid exemption, for all individuals applying for lawful permanent residence in the United States as part of the required medical exams.
