USCIS Confirms Severe Delays in Issuing Receipt Notices for Filed Petitions and Applications

Today, the USCIS issued an announcement confirming significant delays in issuing petition and application receipt notices filed at USCIS lockbox facilities, due to COVID-related operational constraints, increases in filings, and other factors. Petitions and applications filed at lockbox facilities are normally issued receipt notices within a few weeks after being processed in the mailroom. Notably, individuals who filed green card applications on Form I-485 in October and November should continue to expect severe delays in receiving receipt notices. Please note that mailroom delays do not affect the date the filing is considered received by the USCIS for processing purposes.
