Government Shutdown Averted: US Immigration Services Remain Open

As an update to our alert link from last Friday, and as most readers are likely aware, a government shutdown was narrowly averted late Saturday evening. A few hours before the midnight deadline, Congress agreed to a short-term budget compromise that will keep the government funded for at least the next 45 days. As a result, the Department of Labor and all other US government agencies that provide immigration-related services will remain in operation, for now. However, a long-term agreement on government spending for fiscal year 2024 has not yet been reached, and the risk of a shutdown happening at the conclusion of the temporary period remains high.

We will provide further updates as information becomes available.
