Updates on U.S. Visa Services in India
Last week, the U.S. Mission India published several important updates regarding the availability of visa services at U.S. Embassies and Consulates in India:
March 2021 Nonimmigrant Visa Appointments: Citing “scheduling changes,” the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi is canceling nonimmigrant visa appointments originally scheduled for March 2021. Applicants will receive an SMS and/or email notification if their visa interview has been canceled, and must reschedule both their biometrics and in-person interview appointments.
Employment-Based Visa Appointments: Consular posts in India are now accommodating a limited number of employment-based visa appointments, including H, L, and O visas. Please note that individuals subject to Proclamation 10052 must still prove they are exempt in order to secure a new visa stamp.
Appointment Wait Times: Individuals currently traveling to India who must renew their visa stamps must anticipate significant appointment wait times, even for emergency appointments and mail-in (“drop box”) renewal applications.
We strongly advise clients and their employees to reach out to us regarding any international travel plans.
