USCIS Faces Production Delays in Printing EADs, Green Cards

On Tuesday, July 21st, the DHS published a bulletin announcing that, due to pandemic-related budgetary shortfalls, the USCIS will be facing reduced capacity to print secure documents, which includes Employment Authorization Documents (EADs) and green cards. According to the DHS, the USCIS was unable to fund the hiring of federal employees to replace an outside contractor the agency has relied on for card production. Backlogs in card production may be further exacerbated if the USCIS proceeds with furloughs.
