Congress Passes Spending Bills to Avoid Government Shutdown
On December 19th, the Senate passed two federal government spending bills for Fiscal Year 2020 to prevent a government shutdown, following the House of Representatives’ approval of the $1.4 trillion appropriations package on December 17th. Current government funding ends at midnight, December 20th. The spending bills have been sent to President Trump for signature. Once the President signs the bills, federal agencies such as the Department of Labor will continue operations through the end of Fiscal year 2020, which ends on September 30, 2020.
